This was a very interesting experience… Lately I’ve really gotten into playing studio vlogs in the background while I work during the day because it fills the silence of working at home alone and it also inspires me to work on my own art projects after! So this studio vlog kind of documents a week in my life at the moment.
It was a lot of work to edit because I think I shot way too much. I started editing late Saturday evening, throughout most of Sunday… and then most of Monday evening. I cut it from the original rough cut of 48 minutes which was WAY too long to around 23 minutes which seemed more about the same length as other studio vlogs.
I recorded all of the video using my new Samsung S20 FE and because I was a little camera shy and not used to speaking into my phone for video purposes that I often did not speak loud enough so the audio quality in my clips is only so-so. Other times I was really close to my phone when I was recording so my voice was super loud! Hopefully if I manage to continue making these vlogs I get more used to how loud I need to speak and how far or close I need to be near my phone when recording.
Overall there was a lot more polish I wish I could have done to the video but I felt like if I didn’t get it out now, I would continue to edit it into obscurity and it would never get posted. All I can do is just keep improving on the next one until I get to where I want the quality to be. I’m still not sure how I feel about my vlog because of all my insecurities and I haven’t even told all my friends about it yet… haha… but it’s out there in the world now… so here we go!
I’m not sure how often I can make the vlogs because its very time consuming and I can only work on it after work for the most part but my goal is to try for atleast once a month and then eventually twice a month. I think once I get templates made for title screens and nail down how I want to edit the video it will go faster. I’ll probably still post other shorter art timelapse videos throughout the month if as I go.
